Tummy Time Box

Supporting Connection Through Play (0–6 Months)

The first six months of your baby's life are filled with incredible growth, but they can also bring uncertainty.

Many parents feel pressure to stimulate correctly, buy the right products, or constantly be doing more. We believe something simpler.

Your voice, your face, your touch, and your presence are some of the most powerful tools your baby has for learning. That's why we've designed this box around connection first.

The activities inside aren't about achieving milestones. They're about creating small, meaningful moments together that support your baby's development while strengthening your relationship.

Because in your baby's world, you are already enough.

This guidebook is designed to help you get the most from your BabySprouts box. Inside, you'll find simple guidance, helpful tips, and activity ideas that support your baby's development through everyday moments of connection.

What's Inside?

Why Tummy Time Matters

What is My Baby Learning?

How Often Should We Use the Box?

Stay in Touch

Remember, your babies favourite toy is YOU

Research consistently shows that babies learn best through responsive interaction with the people who care for them, so the toys and materials in this box are simply tools to help create those moments.

Talk often. Sing often. Smile often. And remember that connection matters more than perfection.

Inside your Tummy Time Box, you'll find six simple activities designed to support your baby's development through connection, communication, and play.

Each activity has been carefully chosen for the first six months of life, helping you create meaningful moments together using your voice, your touch, your expressions, and a few thoughtfully selected tools.

  1. Look With Me: Follow shapes and patterns together.
  2. Where Did I Go?: Enjoy peek-a-boo with a muslin swaddle.
  3. Reach & Hold: Grasp, squeeze and explore textures.
  4. I Love You Massage: Gentle tummy massage for connection and comfort.
  5. Sensory Balls: Roll, touch and explore textures.
  6. Copy Me: Copy faces and sounds together.

Tummy time is one of the simplest ways to support your baby's development during the first six months of life.

When babies spend time on their tummy while awake and supervised, they strengthen the muscles in their neck, shoulders, arms, and core. These muscles form the foundation for important milestones such as rolling, sitting, crawling, and eventually walking.

Tummy time also helps babies develop visual tracking skills as they lift their heads to look around, and encourages them to explore their environment from a different perspective.

Research shows that short, regular tummy time sessions can support:

  1. Head and neck control
  2. Upper body strength
  3. Balance and coordination
  4. Visual development
  5. Confidence in movement
The good news? Tummy time doesn't need to be long or perfect.

For many babies, a few minutes at a time throughout the day is more effective than one long session. Some babies love tummy time immediately, while others need time to adjust. Both are completely normal.

Remember, every minute counts. A few moments spent looking at a contrast book, reaching for a toy, or smiling at a familiar face can all contribute to your baby's development.

Helpful Tips
✓ Start with short sessions and build gradually.
✓ Get down to your baby's eye level and interact face-to-face.
✓ Use your contrast book to encourage visual tracking and focus.
✓ Try tummy time after a nappy change or nap, when your baby is alert and content.
✓ Stop if your baby becomes overly tired or upset, and try again later.

✓ Every baby develops at their own pace.

The BabySprouts Tummy Time Box focuses on two important areas of early development:

  1. Language & Communication: Your baby is learning every time they hear your voice. Through talking, singing, copying sounds and responding to expressions, babies begin building the foundations for communication long before they say their first word.
  2. Social & Emotional Development: Babies learn through relationships. Eye contact, touch, facial expressions and responsive interaction help babies develop trust, emotional security and a sense of belonging.
As often as you like. Even a few minutes of focused interaction can be meaningful.

Inside your BabySprouts box, you'll find activity cards with simple instructions, conversation prompts, and guidance designed to help you get started. These activities have been carefully chosen to support your baby's development during the first six months while encouraging connection, communication, and play.

But remember - the cards are only a guide.

There is no right or wrong way to use the materials in your box. Follow your baby's interests, repeat favourite activities, and feel free to use the items in new ways that feel engaging for both of you. Some days your baby may be fascinated by the contrast book, while on other days they may simply want to listen to your voice or explore a texture.

The most valuable part of any activity isn't the toy or the outcome - it's the time you spend together.

Trust your instincts, follow your baby's cues, and enjoy the moments of connection along the way. If baby doesn’t seem interested or becomes frustrated, that’s ok. Follow your baby's cues and try again another time. Babies learn best when they feel calm, comfortable and engaged.
